It’s been quite a journey for this Thai lady! “Ms. Joy,” as she is affectionately known by her friends and employees, learned the value of hard work early in life. She grew up on a small farm outside of Roi Et, Thailand, as one of ten siblings. From a young age, she learned Thai culinary skills while helping her mother cook for their large family. As a young girl, she dreamed of someday coming to America to build a better life — and with determination and courage, she made it happen.


After arriving in Roseville, California, she worked tirelessly to learn the language and understand American culture. She eventually became a proud U.S. citizen and set out to pursue her lifelong dream of opening her own Thai restaurant. This was no easy task, but despite many challenges, she turned that dream into reality.


In 2011, she opened My Thai Kitchen (MTK) — a small eatery that has since grown into a beloved Roseville favorite. Under her leadership, MTK has been voted Best Thai Restaurant in Placer County for 11 consecutive years. This success comes from her passion, dedication, and the genuine love her customers have for her and MTK.


MTK’s innovative menu reflects Ms. Joy’s creativity and her deep respect for authentic Thai cuisine. Every dish blends traditional flavors with a modern twist — from aromatic curries and sizzling wok stir-fries to comforting noodle and rice dishes.
